About Me

Lente Verelst is a Belgian film and concert composer. Her classical background and acoustic music are an important part and keep on being fundamental in her artistic vision and music for screen. These live elements are often combined with subtle electronics.

She started her first composition lessons with Stefan Van Puymbroeck at the Academy for Music, Drama and Dance in Mortsel. Afterwards, she started her professional education at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. Here, she studied classical contemporary composition with Wim Henderickx and Luc van Hove. After obtaining the bachelor diplomas music theory and composition, she was granted a place at the

Royal College of Music in London for a master in Composition for screen in 2016. During this specialization in music for film and media, she mainly explored the target audience children as she also has experience teaching music initiation to children aged four to eight. In general she is inspired by stories with a lot of imagination.

During her two years at the Royal College of Music, she developed the music for the short animation 'The Amazing Little Worm' by Anna Gentillini, student from the animation course at Central St. Martins. Her orchestral Sci-Fi story “The Whale of Hope” (an orchestral story about a space whale) was performed by the Student Film Orchestra. Lente has also collaborated with several film students and artists.

Recent performances include her 15-minutes opera 'Bear and Friends' (performed at the Royal College of Music, in collaboration with Tête à Tête) and
'The Bar'. A 15 minute opera written for Hull Urban Opera

She was selected as one of the five finalists at the 7th International Film Music Competition linked to Film Festival Zurich.
